Bridging Cultures, Nurturing Minds: Kunda Kids Ignites STEM Wonder in Essex's Libraries

In an exhilarating collaboration with Essex Libraries, Kunda Kids orchestrated a groundbreaking STEM initiative during the October half-term break.

Our popular bridge-building workshops, hosted at four libraries across Essex, beautifully fused together a celebration of Africa with a mission to empower young minds to confidently navigate the realms of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Over the course of two days - Tuesday 24th and Friday 27th October - we visited Hadleigh Library, South Benfleet Library, Loughton Library and Great Parndon LibraryThere, our team had the pleasure of enthralling nearly 50 children (and capturing the attention of 35 adults!) with the enchanting tale of 'Malik's Bridge’ - a Kunda Kids fan favourite.

The magic did not stop there; after storytime, the young innovators left all the adults in awe as they ingeniously crafted their own inventive bridges using rudimentary materials, showcasing not only their creative prowess but also their remarkable analytical skills. That they did this in a very limited amount of time is a further indication that their futures are bright!

Essex Libraries diligently gathered feedback from all participants (and their parents), and the results speak for themselves. A unanimous 100% agreement emerged, reflecting the overwhelming positive impact of the workshops. Attendees not only found the sessions enjoyable but also each learned something new, gained confidence in mathematics, reading and visiting the library, and expressed a newfound intention to read more!

Fortunately, our books can be found on the shelves of more than 50 libraries across the county of Essex. So, whether one resides in Billericay, Clacton, Debden, Earls Colne, Fryerns, Galleywood, Harlow, Kelvedon, Laindon, Mersea, Pitsea, Stansted, Thaxted, Vange, Witham and more, they can explore the magical and enriching world of Kunda Kids!

Kunda Kids returns to Essex in 2024 - keep your eyes peeled for details of many more lively and impactful events destined to inspire the next generation!
