✊🏾 Black History Month 2026
Stories that look like us. Books that belong to us. Futures built by us.
This Black History Month, we are doing more than celebrating history.
We are building a legacy for the next generation.
At Kunda Kids, we believe every child deserves to open a book and see their skin, their family, their culture, and their joy reflected back at them.
Not as an afterthought.
Not as a footnote.
But at the centre of the story.
That is why we're collaborating with The African Baby Book Project.
A bold, community-powered mission to place 5,000 beautifully illustrated, Afro-centric children’s books directly into the hands of children across East Africa, reaching schools, libraries, literacy centres and community spaces that need them most.
Because representation is not a luxury.
It is literacy.
It is confidence.
It is identity.

🌍 Why this matters
Across many communities, children still rely on outdated, second-hand books that rarely reflect who they are. When a child never sees themselves in stories, it quietly tells them they do not belong.
We are replacing those shelves with vibrant African stories, joyful characters, and culturally rich adventures that say: You matter. You are seen. Your story is powerful.
