Kunda Kids on CNN African Voices
Share
We’re incredibly proud to share that Kunda Kids was recently featured on CNN, spotlighting the rise of African animation and its powerful role in shaping children’s media worldwide.
For decades, African children—and children around the world—grew up watching stories that didn’t reflect Africa’s cultures, languages, or values. But times are changing. A new generation of African creators is using animation not only to entertain but also educate and empower. And we’re honoured to be at the heart of that movement.
Why This Matters
Representation isn’t just about being seen—it’s about being celebrated. Kunda & Friends, our flagship 3D animated series, introduces preschoolers to African heritage through playful characters, joyful music, and meaningful life lessons. It’s not just for African children—it’s for all children growing up in an interconnected world where 40% of kids will soon have African roots or connections.
As highlighted by CNN, we’re filling a long-standing gap in the global edutainment space—making African stories accessible, relatable, and joyful for a new generation of global citizens.
Changing the Narrative
For years, children’s media overlooked Africa’s brilliance. Now, with partners like YouTube Kids and global distribution platforms, Kunda Kids is helping reframe how stories from the continent are told—putting Africa on centre stage in a positive, empowering way.
Beyond the screen, this is about legacy. It’s about giving all children—whether in Lagos, London, Nairobi, or New York—the chance to learn about Africa in a way that's inclusive, playful, and filled with pride.
A Movement, Not a Moment
The CNN feature also emphasised the strength of collaboration in this space. With more creators like Jeni & Keni joining the wave, and communities rallying around diverse storytelling, the future of African children’s media has never looked brighter.
We’re proud to be building a brand that reflects where the world is going—and to be creating content that helps shape how children understand themselves and each other.

With love,
Team Kunda Kids 💛
